1 problem with high elves is that they dont meet criteria #1 their heros arn't that scary.

Cathay will never happen. GW has said that no more human races will be made since they have 3 already (if you include dogs of war).

But wouldn't you prefer a Nippon army?

Didn't mean in terms of game performance, more in terms of their position as a product. Space Marines are the poster boys of 40K, always up front, and get a codex first when new edition comes out. I always thought High Elves were similar in that respect.

High elves got their army book 2nd in 4th edition, last in 5th edition, 4th in 6th edition and 4th in 7th edition.

Orcs and goblins are ones normally used to promote the product. 1st in 4th, 1st in 6th, 1st in 7th. They did, however, get skipped in 5th, though a lot of armies also got skipped in 5th.

Ok, won't worry about it too much then. I'll pick up the army book this weekend, maybe a box of Spearmen or something to experiment with colour schemes on.

I'd consider holding off on the spearmen, the new lotharn seaguard models in the Island of blood box look much better and thier uses in game are two-fold.

Oh I know that. They look pretty sweet. I'm just looking for a few models to experiment with some paint schemes. Didn't end up buying any anyways, I've got a friend who might be selling me their HE army, so I'm holding off for now.
